Thanks for sharing, I didn’t know that but am not surprised as Colombia has made capitalism a priority over the needs of their citizens. Many other South Americans that I met were critical of Colombia’s government in this respect.

I know you’re on vacay, but i hope you have a chance to impart a little social consciousness when you’re in Colombia, where thousands of trade unionists have been senselessly murdered for standing up for their rights, and the Colombian government completely turns a blind eye to it (our government is guilty too, since they trade with Colombia despite knowing full well the human rights atrocities there…) http://news.firedoglake.com/2012/01/26/colombia-remains-violent-for-trade-unionists-even-after-us-free-trade-deal/. please please be safe!
